The Scottish Parliament rejected an assisted suicide bill by 69 votes to 57 on 17 March. The proposal would have allowed “terminally ill” adults to kill themselves. Claims that the bill was “the most safeguarded in the world” were refuted in the emotional and two-year long debate. MSPs were given a free vote, not along party lines. Three MSPs changed their vote from supporting the bill earlier to opposing it. The bill had already passed an earlier stage in 2025, but lost support after scrutiny and amendments. Concerns raised by opponents included pressure or coercion on vulnerable people and the doctor–patient relationship. The opposition included several medical bodies like psychiatrists and pharmacists as well as disability organisations. The vote was not the first but another failed attempt to legalise assisted dying in Scotland. Campaigners will likely bring forward new bills, supported by the state television BBC. #newsYrpzmnuvzv

Things many men never say out loud. There’s something people rarely talk about. How much weight a man often carries. Work. Bills. The house. The car. Providing for the family. Vacations for the kids. Making sure tomorrow is secure. It’s not always like this. But very often, the responsibility for holding everything together lands on his shoulders. And when things start to feel unstable, fear creeps in. Fear of losing his job. Fear of not having enough money. Fear of not being able to protect everything he’s built. Because when something falls apart, many men feel like they are the ones who failed. So questions start running through his mind—questions no one else hears: Can I handle this? Can I keep this family afloat? What if I lose everything? And still… he gets up in the morning. He goes to work. He does what needs to be done. And more often than not, he never tells anyone how heavy it really feels. Because from a young age, many men are taught one simple rule: Be strong. And so …Doliwat
"After two years of debate, and the most intense scrutiny that the question of assisted suicide has ever received in Scotland, Holyrood, widely regarded as one of the world’s most socially and politically progressive legislatures, has come to the conclusion that introducing assisted suicide is unsafe and dangerous."
Liam McArthur’s assisted suicide Bill has been defeated in a major victory for opponents of the Bill by 69 votes to 57, settling the issue in Scotland for a generation after a two-year national debate, and likely striking a mortal blow to the assisted suicide Bill in Westminster. After two years of debate, and the most intense scrutiny that the question of assisted suicide has ever received in Scotland, Holyrood, widely regarded as one of the world’s most socially and politically progressive legislatures, has come to the conclusion that introducing assisted suicide is unsafe and dangerous. Ahead of the vote, the Deputy Political Editor of The Scotsman, David Bol, described the final vote on the Bill at Stage 3 tonight as “potentially the biggest decision in the history of the Scottish Parliament”, and this was echoed by other prominent political commentators. The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) has sent all diocesan bishops in Italy a newly published book explaining the reasons behind its planned episcopal consecrations. The book At the Service of the Church argues that some Church leaders have "adulterated the faith", creating a situation that justifies resistance to authority. In a letter accompanying the book, District Superior Don Gabriele D’Avino describes the initiative as an invitation for bishops to reflect on the crisis in the Church.
The cultural centre in Havelange, Belgium, has cancelled the blasphemous play Madonna (non) grata, which was due to be performed on 27 March. The play aimed to depict a figure called "Virgin Mary" as a fallen virgin trapped in a decaying, mould-infested sanctuary. Her body is described as decaying and diseased yet unnaturally immortal. She exists in a paradoxical state - both sacred and corrupted - surrounded by an atmosphere of decay, curse and degradation. CathoBel.be published a critical opinion piece and a petition against the theater on 13 March. They called for prayer, reflection and letter-writing, emphasising the importance of acting in a spirit of charity. The cultural centre cancelled the performance, playing the victim. They have been subjected to "harassment", "intimidation", and "xenophobic remarks", hypocritically insisting that they did not intend to offend anyone: "The performance is in no way an attack on the Catholic religion, the clergy, or believers." #newsTuuvtxmlkz
NYTIMES: Peter Thiel Fears the Antichrist Is Coming. In Rome, Some Call His View Heresy. nytimes.com/…/europe/peter-thiel-rome- … The right-wing tech investor is giving lectures near the Catholic church’s administrative heart. Commentators there are rejecting his apocalyptic vision. March 17, 2026 For months, Peter Thiel, the right-wing tech billionaire, has warned of what he sees as an imminent threat from the Antichrist, an entity portrayed in some Christian traditions as one of Jesus’ ultimate enemies. Mr. Thiel, an investor in artificial intelligence, says he is drawing on biblical prophesies to warn of an Antichrist who will promise safety from existential risks like nuclear war, climate change and artificial intelligence only to bring about something worse: one-world, totalitarian government. Now, Mr. Thiel is encountering resistance from Christian thinkers in the Roman Catholic Church, just as he tries to build support for his ideas in the church’s backyard in Rome. This week …Doliwat

The life of the Church has been marked for decades by a doctrinal confusion, Bishop Athanasius Schneider told the Spanish Youtube channel ‘El Debate’ on March 18. As the root, he identifies doctrinal relativism, which he links to the modernist movement. It infiltrated the church in the early 1900s and spread gradually, especially using the Second Vatican Council as a kind of catalyst. Accordign to Bishop Schneider, this tendency has grown over the past sixty years: “Today, especially with the previous pontificate of Pope Francis, we have the culmination of this movement of doctrinal relativism - that is, the idea that truth is not always the same.” Two Consequences of Relativism From relativism follows for Schneider the danger of naturalism. This outlook gives primacy to natural, temporal and social issues and reduces the need for supernatural grace. Another consequence is religious syncretism. If truth is relative and human beings are already fundamentally good, then it becomes easy …Doliwat
