Leo XIV Carries Cross Himself in Rome's Colosseum Because "Christ Still Suffers"

Speaking to journalists in Castel Gandolfo this evening, Pope Leo XIV called on world leaders to “come back to the table” and solve their problems through dialogue (video below).
"I'm told that President Trump recently said he wanted to end the war. Hopefully, he is looking for a way out. I hope he's looking for a way to reduce the violence and bombing, which would significantly help to reduce the constant increase in hatred in the Middle East and elsewhere."
Leo XIV added, "Come back to the table and engage in dialogue. Let's look for solutions to problems and ways to reduce violence, so that peace — especially at Easter — might reign in our hearts."
The Pope was also asked about his decision to personally carry the cross during the traditional Stations of the Cross at the Colosseum on Friday. "I think it will be an important sign because of what the Pope represents: a spiritual leader in today's world and a voice saying that Christ still suffers."
When asked what he expects from his …Ավելին

From this series of papal writings, it is clear there were three conditions to maintaining use of a missal that existed prior to the Roman Missal's changes: the missal being used could not contain doctrinal error, it had to be of "ancient use" (not an innovation), and its use had to be continuous (the people attached to the missal had maintained its use uninterrupted, by not adopting the "new revised" missal. I fail to see how the 1962 missal does not meet these three requirements.

U.S. Bishops Launch Yet ANOTHER Attack On The Trump Administration

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued an action alert calling on the faithful to oppose the Trump administration’s proposed new regulations for recipients of federal funding.
The USCCB’s suggested message to the Trump administration states:
As a Catholic, I am called to recognize the God-given dignity inherent in all my brothers and sisters. I support the Church’s efforts to promote human dignity through service to immigrants and support for racial justice. We continue to advocate for just laws and policies that uphold the dignity of every human person.
For these reasons, we respectfully urge the General Services Administration (GSA) to withdraw or substantially revise the proposed changes which could prevent many Catholic institutions from living out their mission to care for the human dignity of all people.
The proposal “appears to use the SAM [System for Award Management] registration process to impose or operationalize contested interpretations of federal …

"Amoris Laetitia" Was a "Breakthrough" for Church - Cardinal Schönborn

Pope Francis’ post-synodal apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia, published on April 8, 2016, was a “breakthrough” for the Church. This was stated by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, 81, of Vienna, who had presented the document at the Vatican ten years ago, in an interview with Kathpress.at on March 30.
In a footnote, Francis "allowed" adulterers to grab Holy Communion using the case-by-case trick. Cardinal Schönborn commented: "That Pope Francis addressed the question of whether divorced and remarried persons may receive Communion only in a small footnote deeply moved me personally."
“When I take the document from my bookshelf or even just think about it, it still brings me to tears,” he added.
For many people in the Church - and for him personally - the document represented a “huge sigh of relief.” The reason, he explained, is that Francis speaks “about real life.”
Families in “difficult” situations should not be constrained or judged according to "rigid criteria". Instead, one …Ավելին

Pope Leo XIV: “I'm told that President Trump recently stated that he would like to end the war. Hopefully he's looking for an 'off-ramp'. Hopefully he's looking for a way to decrease the amount of violence, of bombing, which would be a significant contribution to removing the hatred that's being created and that's increasing constantly in the Middle East and elsewhere. I appeal to all leaders, come back to the table, to dialogue. Let's look for solutions to problems, let's look for ways to reduce the amount of violence that we're promoting, that peace - especially at Easter - might reign in our hearts."

Leo XIV "Interested" in Solving Tensions around Roman Rite - French Bishop

During the January consistory, Leo XIV told Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline of Marseille, France, of his wish to explore avenues for resolving the tensions surrounding the Roman rite, La-croix.com reports, citing anonymous sources.
One bishop, who also wished to remain anonymous, said that Leo XIV is allegedly "extremely interested in the question and asked us to think something through".
Another bishop, who has spoken with Leo XIV about the Roman rite, said that "for the Pope, what is done in France serves as a model" for other countries.
"It is the first time I have heard so clearly that the subject must be addressed at a theological level and not just in a pastoral and emotional way," he added.
Another anonymous bishop, from the southeast, said: "Behind the attraction to beauty and the sacred, there is a whole theological debate that some do not perceive: a distant God versus a God who draws near - encompassing a whole relationship with the world, freedom of conscience and interreligious …Ավելին

Girls are hitting puberty earlier than ever before — and the numbers are shocking. In the late 1800s, the average age was around 16–17. By the early 1900s it had dropped to 12.5–13. Today it’s down to about 11, with some Black and Hispanic girls showing signs as early as 8, 9, or even 6–7 years old — the earliest recorded in history. Patrick Bet-David asked FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary why this is happening. Makary pointed to the modern environment: constant exposure to substances and chemicals with estrogen-like binding properties (found even in river water) that partially activate estrogen receptors. He called it a “huge issue” and an existential threat to human development, noting the age has been dropping by about a week and a half every year for the last 30 years. He also mentioned that in Europe, where some of these exposures may be lower, puberty still starts later (14–15 in some cases), and that American medicine has largely treated this as a minor footnote rather than …Ավելին

Marian Sanctuary in Northern Italy Denies Entry to FSSPX Pilgrimage

On March 28, a Lenten pilgrimage organized by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX) was denied entry to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows in Cuceglio, near Turin, Italy.
Despite being announced in advance, the church doors remained closed to the group, which included priests, religious sisters, and families who had walked several kilometers in devotion.
The pilgrims had planned no Mass or formal liturgy - only a few concluding prayers.
According to the local newspaper La Voce, the decision to close the gates to the pilgrims was made by the rector of the sanctuary, Don Luca Meinardi, and by Bishop Daniele Salera of Ivrea. The newspaper comments: "A choice that inevitably contradicts an ecclesiastical vocabulary which, in recent years, has emphasized words like welcome, inclusion, dialogue, and mercy."

Why Jesus Had to Die
The first reading introduces the suffering servant songs from Isaiah, highlighting God’s covenant with humanity through Jesus Christ. This covenant, established through Jesus’ death and resurrection, offers forgiveness of sins and divine life. As Holy Week begins, it is crucial to reflect on Jesus’ motives of love and charity, and to examine our own motives in receiving and reciprocating His gifts.
